MALIN PEBBLES

Beautifully cut and polished stone gifts and jewellery from the beaches of Ireland. About 12000 years ago the glaciers of the last ice age retreated from the northern half of Ireland. Relieved of its burden the landmass rose and with it millions of tons of pebbles deposited on the ancient shores.

Petra has spent many an hour on the beaches of Inishowen in County Donegal collecting stones suitable for cutting. It is a long process to grind and polish stones, the more so if they are just rocks from the beach. But what a great reward for all the trouble to look at that beautiful glistening piece of jewellery, set in silver, or shiny candleholder, or just a polished stone, that now has revealed all its bright colours-red, green, black or orange.
